This role requires an exceptional level of skill in sewing, fitting, and altering garments to ensure they meet the unparalleled standards of haute couture. Key Responsibilities: • Garment Construction: Hand-sew and machine-sew garments with precision, ensuring each piece reflects the design's intended fit, drape, and detail. • Fitting and Alterations: Conduct fittings with clients or models, making precise alterations to achieve perfect fit and silhouette. • Detail Work: Perform intricate handwork like embroidery, beading, or lace application, which are hallmarks of haute couture. • Quality Control: Inspect work continuously to maintain the highest quality standards, spotting and correcting any imperfections. • Pattern Realization: Work closely with Pattern Makers to bring sketches to life, ensuring accuracy in pattern translation to fabric. • Collaboration: Coordinate with designers, pattern makers, and other tailors to ensure consistency and excellence in every piece. • Maintenance and Repair: Handle maintenance or repair of couture pieces post-production or for returning clients. • Innovation: Stay informed about new sewing techniques and materials relevant to couture, potentially innovating methods to enhance garment quality or uniqueness. Qualifications: • Education: o Formal training in tailoring, sewing, or fashion from a recognized institution is highly desirable. • Experience: o At least 5 years of experience in high-end tailoring or couture sewing. o Prior work in a luxury or haute couture setting would be advantageous. • Skills: o Mastery over various sewing techniques, both hand and machine. o Profound knowledge of fabric behavior, sewing with delicate materials, and garment construction. o Excellent eye for detail, with an ability to work with minute, complex elements. o Skill in fitting and altering garments to achieve custom fits. • Soft Skills: o Patience for meticulous work and the ability to concentrate for long periods. o Good communication skills for client interactions during fittings. o Teamwork and the ability to collaborate with creative personnel. o Adaptability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
