Production Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PRODUCTION MANAGER 1. Daily Production Oversight • Supervise all daily production activities (cutting, sewing, finishing, ironing, and packaging) • Ensure each tailor understands their daily tasks and deadlines (all work schedule for the week should be sent on Saturday) • Monitor progress throughout the day to make sure orders are on track. • Step in to resolve technical or workflow issues immediately. 2. Quality Control • Inspect garments at key production stages (after sewing, before ironing, and before packaging) • Ensure consistency in sizing, stitching, finishing, labeling, and overall presentation. • Reject or return pieces that do not meet the brand’s standard. • Keep a simple quality record (e.g., how many pieces failed inspection and why) to track recurring problems. 3. Staff Coordination & Supervision • Oversee the tailors, ironer, and assistants to maintain discipline and teamwork. • Assign daily tasks and confirm completion at the end of the day. • Encourage a positive and respectful work environment. • Address lateness, absenteeism, or underperformance fairly but firmly. • Report any serious issues to the CEO. 4. Order & Customer Fulfillment • Coordinate all production based on order priority (RTW stock, urgent orders, and wholesale) • Ensure all finished pieces are delivered on time and meet required standards. • Communicate clearly with the sales rep about order progress or possible delays. • Double-check express or VIP orders personally before dispatch. 5. Inventory & Material Control • Track fabric usage to reduce waste and ensure proper fabric allocation for each style. • Supervise fabric cutting to avoid errors and ensure accurate quantity usage. • Notify management early when fabrics, zippers, or other supplies are running low. • Keep basic records of materials received and used each week. 6. Equipment & Work Environment • Ensure all sewing machines, irons, and pressing tools are in good condition. • Report maintenance or repair needs immediately. • Ensure that the production area is neat, organized, and safe at all times. • Encourage the team to clean up after themselves at the end of each workday. . Ensure the store is closed by 7pm every evening unfailingly! 7. Process Improvement • Identify small ways to make production faster and smoother (e.g., better layout, clearer task division). • Suggest improvements to patterns or production techniques when necessary. • Share feedback with the CEO on what styles are more efficient to produce. 8. Reporting & Accountability • Give weekly reports on production progress, quality issues, and staff performance. • Record orders completed, orders pending, and reasons for any delay. • Communicate honestly about challenges (fabric shortages, faulty machines, or staff limitations) . Inform management on the number of people who will be staying back at the accommodation at the end of every week . Ensure that the key to the sewing house is dropped off at the main house every single day without any exemptions
