Key Responsibilities: 1. Creating Patterns: • Develop precise patterns based on designers’ sketches, specifications, or technical drawings. • Transform design concepts into tangible templates that can be used in the cutting and assembly of fabrics. 2. Interpreting Design Specifications: • Collaborate with designers and product developers to understand the design vision and technical requirements. • Analyze measurements, style lines, and fabric properties to ensure patterns are functional and aesthetically aligned with the design. 3. Adjusting Patterns: • Modify and adapt existing patterns to fit different sizes, styles, or garment features. • Make necessary alterations during the production process to resolve fitting or design issues. 4. Drafting and Grading: • Draft initial pattern pieces by hand. • Grade patterns to create different sizes while maintaining the garment’s proportions and fit. 5. Prototyping and Testing: • Oversee or assist in creating garment samples to test the pattern’s accuracy and fit. • Make adjustments to the pattern based on feedback from fittings and prototypes. 6. Maintaining Accuracy and Detail: • Ensure patterns are precise in measurements and construction details, avoiding errors that could lead to production issues. • Keep detailed records of patterns, including revisions, adjustments, and final versions. 7. Collaboration: • Work closely with designers, sewing technicians, and production teams to troubleshoot design and construction challenges. • Provide technical guidance on how patterns will work with different fabrics or garment features. 8. Quality Control: • Review and ensure that patterns meet quality standards for fit, appearance, and functionality before production. • Stay updated on industry trends, garment construction techniques, and material developments to improve pattern-making processes.
