Fashion designer who can pattern draft and grade

The Pattern Maker is responsible for interpreting designers’ sketches and measurements into accurate paper or digital patterns used in garment production. This role ensures that each pattern maintains correct proportions, fit, and technical details for mass production while optimizing fabric use and ensuring consistency across sizes and styles. Key Responsibilities: Interpret designers’ drawings or technical sheets to develop first patterns for new styles. Draft, cut, and adjust master patterns manually or digitally (using CAD systems like Gerber, Optitex, or Lectra). Ensure all design lines, darts, seams, and notches are technically accurate and production-ready. Work closely with sample makers to ensure correct garment fit and finishing. Modify patterns after sample fittings based on feedback from the technical and quality teams. Ensure fabric shrinkage, stretch, and grain direction are considered during pattern development. Maintain proper labeling and documentation of all patterns and versions. Collaborate with graders and cutters to ensure patterns are correctly marked for cutting and bulk production. Participate in pre-production meetings to confirm technical feasibility. Keep pattern library and archives organized for reference. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Garment Technology, or related field. Minimum of 3–5 years experience in industrial garment pattern making. Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, and fit. Skilled in both manual and CAD-based pattern drafting. Ability to interpret tech packs, specification sheets, and sketches accurately. Keen eye for detail, precision, and proportion. Excellent teamwork and communication skills Job Title: Pattern Grader Department: Technical / Production Reports To: Head Pattern Maker / Technical Manager Job Summary: The Pattern Grader is responsible for creating a full size range from the master pattern, ensuring consistent proportions and fit across all sizes. The grader maintains accuracy in scaling up or down while preserving garment balance and production standards. Key Responsibilities: Grade base patterns into multiple sizes according to factory or client measurement charts. Use manual or CAD grading systems (Gerber, Optitex, Lectra, etc.) to scale patterns accurately. Check and verify that graded patterns maintain correct fit, balance, and design proportions. Update and maintain grading rules and measurement specifications. Prepare graded nests for cutting department and ensure all size markers align correctly. Coordinate with the pattern maker, quality control, and cutting team to ensure smooth handover to production. Identify and correct grading discrepancies before mass production. Maintain accurate digital and physical archives of graded patterns. Qualifications and Skills: Technical Diploma or Certificate in Pattern Grading, Garment Technology, or related discipline. Minimum of 2–3 years industrial experience in grading. Excellent understanding of measurement charts and garment sizing systems. Competence in CAD grading systems preferred. High attention to detail and accuracy. Good teamwork and communication skills. --- Performance Indicators (KPIs): Accuracy of patterns and grading. Number of sample corrections required before approval. Timely completion of pattern and grading tasks. Consistency in fit and measurement across size ranges.
