Pattern Drafter

JOB TITLE: Pattern Drafter / Cutter REPORTS TO: Head of Production / Creative Director LOCATION: Iseda Clothiers JOB SUMMARY The Pattern Drafter / Cutter is responsible for translating bridal designs into accurate patterns and ensuring precise fabric cutting for garment production. The role requires strong technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern development, fitting adjustments, and fabric utilization to ensure the successful production of high-quality bridal wear. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Pattern Drafting • Develop accurate patterns from sketches, measurements, and design specifications. • Create patterns for wedding dresses, reception dresses, and other bridal garments. • Interpret design concepts and transform them into production-ready patterns. • Modify and adjust patterns based on fitting requirements and client feedback. Cutting • Lay fabrics accurately for efficient fabric utilization. • Cut fabrics according to approved patterns and specifications. • Ensure all garment pieces are correctly labeled and organized before production. • Maintain consistency and accuracy throughout the cutting process. Fittings and Alterations • Participate in client fittings when required. • Identify pattern corrections and fitting adjustments. • Update patterns following approved fitting amendments. • Work closely with tailors to ensure proper garment construction. Production Support • Collaborate with the tailoring and production teams to achieve quality standards. • Ensure patterns and cut pieces are delivered according to production schedules. • Maintain records of approved patterns for future reference. • Assist in resolving technical garment construction challenges. Quality Control • Ensure all patterns meet design and measurement specifications. • Minimize fabric waste through efficient planning and cutting. • Inspect cut pieces before transferring them to production. • Maintain high standards of accuracy and workmanship. REQUIREMENTS • Proven experience in pattern drafting and garment cutting. • Strong understanding of bridal garment construction. • Ability to interpret fashion sketches and design concepts. • Excellent measurement and fitting skills. • Knowledge of fabric properties and handling techniques. • Attention to detail and commitment to quality. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Knowledge of Natalie Bray pattern drafting methods is an added advantage. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Formal training in Fashion Design, Pattern Drafting, or Garment Technology. • Experience working in a bridal fashion house. • Minimum of 2–3 years relevant experience.
